They were clearly building something big here. The movie itself hosts an almost dizzying array of plot hooks, and they don't all get developed the way they should. There are hooks for at least three sequels, but none of it ever materialized. It is very much a child of its time, with some effects looking pretty hokey and some of the acting being a bit over the top. I think that just comes down to when this was made and the budget they were operating with. It's a weird movie I can't say that it has enriched me greatly, but if it is your thing then you should probably go see it.
