Paranormal Activity worked because you were invested in the characters and that they had some agency in what happened to them. The cameras were just a way to frame the narrative and to carry the story, giving a plausible excuse as to why there would be cameras running all the time. Found footage struggles a lot with this very concept that people ought to throw their camera away and just run rather than keep recording. Cat Cam does away with this problem by installing a bunch of cameras to watch a cat while going on vacation. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't hold up very well. It does have several big continuity errors that detract from the overall experience, and there is very little to latch on to when it comes to engagement with the characters. The last few minutes has some incredibly wooden acting as well which does bring an otherwise simply "below average" ending down to a rating of "poor" overall. It is not a particularly fun watch, and I don't think you will be doing yourself a disservice by missing this one.
